Indie businesses are the beating heart of our communities\, and make our towns\, villages and high streets colourful\, vibrant and diverse. Oxfordshire’s indies (and all indies!) reflect the places we live\, our cultures and our interests and they make us different. Indie Oxford aims to showcase local alternatives to the nationwide high street stores and help local residents make considered\, well-meaning purchases that last. Supporting independents is an investment in your local community\, feeding into the local economy\, creating jobs for local people\, and funding community cohesion and wellbeing. There are great businesses just down the road that will greet you by name and online shops that will deliver your order by bike. Indie Oxford helps you to discover them. Find out more at independentoxford.com. \nEvent Partners\nIndie Oxford is all about collaboration and we couldn’t do this event without this awesome bunch of event partners: \nTap Social\nTap Social is a social enterprise that brews\, bakes\, and creates inclusive community hospitality venues to help turn lives around for prisoners and prison leavers through direct employment and advocacy. To date\, they have created more than 85\,000 hours of paid employment for prisoners on day release from prison (Release On Temporary Licence) and prison leavers. Having a job helps to build self-confidence and resilience\, and leaves people better equipped to lead a productive and happy life. This in turn reduces reoffending and prevents victimisation. They produce an award-winning range of modern\, accessible craft beer at our main production brewery in north Oxford\, and complement those beers with experimental small-batch brews from our original brewery at our flagship taproom in West Oxford. Open every weekend\, the taproom is consistently rated Oxford’s top nightlife destination\, regularly hosting an eclectic mix of events that includes live music\, charity fundraisers\, yoga\, community events\, quiz nights\, and much more. \nWood Festival\nWood is an annual\, early summer award-winning folk and roots music festival and environmental gathering taking place on 16th\, 17th and 18th May 2025 in the beautiful Chiltern Hills at Braziers Park\, Ipsden near Wallingford\, Oxfordshire. \nDivine Schism\nClose friends and musicians Andrew Grillo\, James Cunning and Aiden Canaday started in 2012 and have been running interesting DIY music and art nights in Oxford and London since 2012. Now run by Aiden Canaday and Rich Bell. \nYoung Women’s Music Project\nYWMP provides an inclusive\, supportive space for young women\, trans and non-binary people to get together to make music\, learn new skills\, express themselves\, and grow in confidence. Based in Oxford\, with a focus on working with 14 – 25 year olds\, it’s much more than a charity\, or a music project: it’s a supportive community. It reaches thousands of people each year through gigs\, events and partnerships.
