Our intention is to engage with the social enterprise community and other social enterprise support organisations.
Oxfordshire Social Entrepreneurship Partnership (OSEP) is an initiative managed and operated jointly by Oxford Brookes University, University of Oxford - including the internationally renowned Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship - and Student Hubs. OSEP aims to become a “one stop shop” supporting social enterprises operating in any sector across the county.
Both Oxford Brookes University and University of Oxford have run their social entrepreneurship programmes for the past two years. These have proved to be both popular and successful with staff, students and recent graduates. The universities receive funding from UnLtd to provide both training and support for their social entrepreneurs and to date have helped over 120 individuals involved in a wide number of projects.
OSEP is reaching out into the community in a number of ways, including involvement in the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Business Support Programme. Through the initiative, two members of OSEP’s Steering group act as “Network Navigators”, ensuring the best possible signposting and connectivity.
A common denominator in both the Universities’ programmes has been Student Hubs who support both Universities and help them to deliver their programmes. They are an award-winning charity run by students for students, enabling them to engage with social and environmental challenges and empowering them to become active citizens for life. You can learn more about Student Hubs and their support for social entrepreneurship and innovation by visiting their website.
Aware of the growth in this sector generally and in Oxfordshire in particular, the two Universities felt that there was a real opportunity to expand and extend their work and engage with the wider social enterprise community.
