ade with Joy is an award winning social enterprise based in Oxford. Joy Foster started building websites and marketing them in 2003 and later founded Made with Joy off the back of a £5,000 UnLtd ‘Do it’ award which she won in November 2014. Made with Joy provides professional website development and digital marketing solutions to charities, non profits, social enterprise and small business.
We aren’t just about creating digital solutions though – we also believe in improving lives. Which is why, in February 2015, Joy took on her first trainee, Declan Hunter, who was 18 years old at the time. Declan had just finished an engineering course at college but had struggled to secure an engineering apprenticeship. He signed up to do some training with SOFEA (the Southern Oxfordshire Food and Education Alliance) in Didcot and Made with Joy took him on as a trainee one day a week. After a successful 6 month traineeship, Declan was offered a part time paid position for an additional 6 months. Declan returned to college to do a gaming and technology course and in 2016, graduated with a merit! Declan is just the first of several youth who have gone through the Made with Joy programme.
