Co-operative Futures, CAG Oxfordshire and OSEP are excited to host ‘Community Businesses & Co-ops: Panel Conversation & Social Meet Up‘ on Thursday 13th October to celebrate community businesses and co-ops in Oxfordshire. The event at the White House by Tap Social, will invite existing community businesses to share honest reflections on their experiences. The event will hear from 3 community-business leaders from Hempen, Syrian Sisters and Broken Spoke Co-op in conversation, as well as give attendees the opportunity to share where they are stuck with their business, gain advice and offers from others, and celebrate co-ops as a force for good.
“As a member-owned coop, CAG Oxfordshire supports a network of community groups and social enterprises across the county, including through the Owned by Oxford initiative. We are excited to partner with eScalate and Coop Futures to encourage and highlight the work of democratically-led and inspired organisations.”
CAG Oxfordshire Director, Katherine Chesson
Co-operative Futures will also be launching their new peer-mentoring programme. New co-operative and community businesses can access two days of funded peer-support from existing co-operative businesses – a great opportunity to get support and gain knowledge in these tough economic times.
“Now more than ever, its really important for people working in co-ops and community-led businesses to find time to come together to celebrate, socialise and learn from each other. We are really excited to be providing a space to re-connect after the pandemic and build a stronger movement.”
Co-operative Development Worker, Alice Hemming

“Increasingly, businesses are looking to achieve social and environmental impact as part of their purpose, and as a result are looking at alternative structures. Co-ops offer this alternative and have long been a force for positive change. We’re excited to be hosting this event showcasing and celebrating some of the inspiring work being done by co-ops in Oxfordshire.”
eScalate programme manager, Ashley Cavers
